YOUR LEATHER CARE GUIDE
Care for leather.
Keep its character.
A little balm, a soft cloth and a few considered steps. Here is how to apply Emberstone Beeswax Leather Conditioner to your suitable smooth-leather boots, shoes, bags and accessories.

PATCH TEST FIRST
Know your leather.
Check your item's care instructions and test a little balm on a small, hidden area. Allow it to absorb and check the result before treating the whole item. Conditioning can deepen leather colour, even with a neutral balm. Do not use on suede or nubuck. For specialist finishes or faux leather, seek material-specific advice first.
01 / PREPARE
Start clean. Let it dry.
Gently remove surface dirt and dust with a soft cloth or an appropriate leather-care brush. If further cleaning is needed, use the method recommended by the leather maker and allow the leather to dry before conditioning.
Balm is conditioning care, not a substitute for cleaning. Start with a clean, dry cloth and dry leather.
02 / CONDITION
Apply a little at a time.
Pick up a small amount of balm with a soft, clean cloth. Work it gently into the leather in a thin, even layer. Use small amounts and spread them well rather than leaving a thick coating.
Work across one area at a time. Keep turning the cloth to a clean section and avoid building up excess around seams or details.
03 / ALLOW TO SETTLE
Give the balm time to absorb.
Let the balm settle into the leather before buffing. Follow any timing on your product label and the leather maker's care guidance.
Do not add another layer while the surface still feels coated. A thin application is easier to finish evenly.
04 / FINISH
Buff away the excess.
Use a clean, dry cloth, or a fresh, dry section of your cloth, to buff gently and remove excess balm. Turn the cloth as you work until the finish looks even.
If the surface still feels greasy, continue removing excess with a clean cloth rather than adding more balm. Check the finish before using the item.
A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY
A thin layer.
An even finish.
A soft, clean cloth gives you control over how much balm you apply. Work in small amounts and remove excess with a fresh, dry section. Avoid a thick coating.
NEUTRAL DOES NOT MEAN UNCHANGED
Test first.
Check the colour.
Conditioning may deepen leather colour. Always check the result on a hidden area before continuing, particularly if preserving a light colour is important to you.
Follow your product label and the leather maker's care guidance. Use only on suitable smooth leather. Do not use on suede or nubuck; seek material-specific advice for specialist finishes and faux leather.
A LITTLE GUIDANCE
Good to know.
Will it change the colour?
The balm has a neutral finish, but conditioning can deepen leather colour. Test a small, hidden area, allow it to absorb and assess the result before treating the whole item.
Can I use it on suede or nubuck?
No. This guide is for suitable smooth leather. Suede and nubuck need care designed for their finish. Check the leather maker's advice for specialist finishes and faux leather.
How much should I use?
Start with a small amount and spread it into a thin, even layer. Do not leave a thick coating or keep adding balm while the surface feels coated. The amount needed depends on the item and its condition.
How long should I leave it before buffing?
Allow the balm to settle into the leather before buffing. Follow any timing on the product label and your item's care instructions. Avoid adding more balm while the surface still feels coated.
What cloth should I use?
Use a soft, clean cloth to apply a small amount. Use another clean, dry cloth, or a fresh dry section, to remove excess and buff. Cloths are not included with the single 150ml tin.
Will it repair cracked or damaged leather?
This is conditioning care, not a structural repair treatment or colourant. For damaged leather or an uncertain finish, ask the leather maker or a leather-care specialist before treating it.
What if I am unsure about my item?
Check the leather maker's care guidance first. You can also email Emberstone with the type of item and any information about its leather finish before applying the balm.
