SLATE RESTORATION WAX · CARE GUIDE
A little wax.
A considered finish.
Mineral oil, beeswax and carnauba wax come together in a finishing wax for suitable slate. Use it on its own, or after Slate Oil to complete your care routine. This guide takes you through preparation, application and finishing.

A GOOD PLACE TO START
Before you begin.
Patch test first. Apply to clean, dry, cool slate. Avoid surfaces where a wax finish could make them dangerously slippery.
Prepare
Clean the surface, let it dry and check that it is cool.
If using Slate Oil first, buff off all excess and wait two hours. Only wax when the surface feels dry, not oily.
Apply sparingly
Work a thin, even layer onto the slate.
Use a clean, dry cloth or applicator. Spread small amounts well rather than leaving a thick coating.
Buff to finish
Use a soft, clean cloth to remove excess and bring up the shine.
Use a fresh, dry section of cloth to achieve an even finish. Follow any timing on your tin.
A LITTLE GUIDANCE
Good to know.
Can I use the wax without the oil?
Yes. Slate Wax can be used on its own to enrich suitable slate and add a protective, buffed shine.
How do I use wax after Slate Oil?
Apply the oil thinly, let it absorb and dry, then buff off all excess. Wait two hours after buffing before applying wax. The surface should feel dry, not oily. Follow both labels.
What is in the blend?
Mineral oil, beeswax and carnauba wax.
What is included?
One 150ml tin. The 100ml Slate Oil shown in the artwork is sold separately, unless you choose the Complete Slate Care Kit.
